Satyendra Nath Bose
1 January 1894 – 4 February 1974
Satyendra Nath Bose (1894-1974) was an Indian mathematical physicist best known for his 1924 derivation of Planck's radiation law, which founded quantum statistics. His work, extended by Albert Einstein, gave rise to Bose-Einstein statistics and the concept of the Bose-Einstein condensate; particles obeying these statistics are named bosons in his honor. He spent much of his career at the University of Dhaka and the University of Calcutta.
