Aaron Ciechanover
1 October 1947 – present
Aaron Ciechanover is an Israeli biologist and physician known for his work on ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation. Working with Avram Hershko at the Technion, and with Irwin Rose, he helped identify the system by which cells tag proteins for destruction. He shared the 2004 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this work.
