Philip Glass
31 January 1937 – present
Philip Glass is an American composer whose repetitive, additive musical language became one of the defining styles of late twentieth-century concert music. Trained at the University of Chicago, the Juilliard School and with Nadia Boulanger in Paris, he formed the Philip Glass Ensemble in 1968 and wrote the opera Einstein on the Beach in 1976. His output includes operas, symphonies and film scores.
