Paul Cézanne

19 January 1839 – 22 October 1906

Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) was a French Post-Impressionist painter whose analytical approach to form and colour laid the foundations for Cubism and much of twentieth-century art. Working largely in his native Provence, he produced landmark series of Mont Sainte-Victoire landscapes, still lifes, bathers, and card players, and was famously called 'the father of us all' by later modern painters.
