Feza Gürsey

7 April 1921 – 13 April 1992

Feza Gürsey was a Turkish mathematician and physicist known for his work on symmetry principles in particle physics. After studies in Istanbul and a doctorate at Imperial College London, he taught in Turkey and then at Yale University, where he spent most of his career. His contributions include work on chiral symmetry, the Gürsey-Radicati mass formula, and the use of exceptional Lie groups in unified field theories.
