Roger Penrose

8 August 1931 – present

Roger Penrose is a British mathematician and mathematical physicist whose work spans general relativity, geometry and the foundations of quantum mechanics. He showed that gravitational collapse leads to singularities, devised the aperiodic Penrose tilings, and wrote popular books including The Emperor's New Mind. He shared the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on black holes.
