Francis Allotey

9 August 1932 – 2 November 2017

Francis Allotey was a Ghanaian mathematical physicist known for work on soft X-ray spectroscopy, where the calculation of electron transition probabilities became known as the Allotey formalism. He taught at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, where he became Ghana's first full professor of mathematics, and promoted computing and science education across Africa.
